Kinetic Sculpture
Details about the kinetic work
A series of kinetic sculpture that I’ve developed over the last five years has provided a learning experience, where I have had to explore the mechanics and structure of sculpture which moves. It has been a process of trial and error, fine tuning and adjustments. The parts are securely welded and constructed to withstand most wind conditions. The blades are angled alternately, one next to the other, so that they can rotate opposite directions under the same wind conditions. The sculpture’s gyroscopic configuration will create unpredictable responses to the wind and an infinite number of variations in its motion.
Along the way, I have sought to incorporate the themes that have played an important role in my art work. I have always had an interest in the shapes and structures found in nature as well as the manifestation of energy. My work is not only inspired by nature but interacts with it and is an extension of the universal order of our cosmos.
